Dr. Margaret Taylor Burroughs
1917 - 2010

Artist, writer and educator Margaret Taylor Burroughs helped to establish the South Side Community Art Center in Chicago in 1941, and the DuSable Museum of Art in 1961.
A graduate of the Chicago Teacher's College and the Art Institue of Chicago, Dr. Burroughs was also the recipient of several honorary degrees.
Rhode Island College awarded Dr. Burroughs an honorary degree, Doctor of Public Service, in 1990.
