Gifts of Books

Donate your used books, journals, DVDs, or CDs to the library.  We will provide packing boxes, delivery options, and a letter acknowledging your gift.

Anyone interested in making a gift of library materials to the Library is asked to contact the Library Gifts Coordinator, Debra Thomson at 401-456-9651.

See our Gifts Policy for more information.

Donate Online to Support the Library

It's easy to donate online. Visit the Give to RIC page.  In the "Donate To" section, select James P. Adams Library.

The library has several naming opportunities available for donors who wish to make a substantial contribution.  For more information, see Give to RIC - Naming Opportunities, or contact the Library Director.

Honor a Friend or Family Member

Gifts can be given in honor of, or in memory of, a friend, family member, faculty member, student, or alumnus.  Donations of this type can be used to purchase library materials or other items.  Gifts may be acknowledged with a bookplate or plaque commemorating the honoree.

For gifts that support collections, the Library's digital bookplating program places a permanent link to each bookplate in the online catalog record for titles acquired through the generosity of the Library's donors.

Become a Friend

Join the Friends of Adams Library.  All are welcome!  The Friends supports the library by raising funds and presenting programs.  Please contact Sharion Giacobbi, membership chair at 456-9618 or

Adopt a Journal

Support the purchase of important journals by making a donation to "adopt" a journal.  Adopted journals will contain a note in the online catalog honoring the donor.  For more information contact Judith Stokes, Serials Librarian, at 456-8165.
