Gifts of Books

Donate your used books, journals, DVDs, or CDs to the library.  We will provide packing boxes, delivery options, and a letter acknowledging your gift.

Anyone interested in making a gift of library materials to the Library is asked to contact the Library Gifts Coordinator, Debra Thomson at 401-456-9651.

See our Gifts Policy for more information.

Adopt a Journal

Support the purchase of important journals by making a donation to "adopt" a journal.  Adopted journals will contain a note in the online catalog honoring the donor.  For more information contact Debra Thomson, Library Gifts Coordinator, at 456-9651.

Donate Online to Support the Library

It's easy to donate online. Visit the Give to RIC page.  In the Gift Information section, use the Gift Designation menu to select James P. Adams Library. To donate to one of the following library funds, please type the name of the fund into the "other fund name not named above" section before making your gift.

Library Capital Fund - Your contributions will become a part of the library's capital fund.  The fund will be used to improve the library building, ensuring that the physical space is useful and attractive for our students, now and in the future.

Frank Notarianni Fund - Named for the late Frank Notarianni, Government Publications Librarian, the fund provides for the purchase of materials in support of the library's mission.

Richard Olsen Fund - Richard Olsen was the Director of the Library from 1968 - 2002.  Upon his retirement, he set up this fund to support the professional development of all library staff.  The fund provides library staff with registration and travel costs for professional conferences.

Sally Wilson Fund - Named for the late Reference and Special Collections Librarian Sally Wilson, this fund provides for the purchase of items in support of the library's mission.

See the list of the library's endowed funds.

Honor a Friend or Family Member

Gifts can be given in honor of, or in memory of, a friend, family member, faculty member, student, or alumnus.  Donations of this type can be used to purchase library materials or other items.  Gifts may be acknowledged with a bookplate or plaque commemorating the honoree.

For gifts that support collections, the Library's digital bookplating program places a permanent link to each bookplate in the online catalog record for titles acquired through the generosity of the Library's donors.

The library has several naming opportunities available for donors who wish to make a substantial contribution.  For a list of possibilities, see Give to RIC - Naming Opportunities .

Donors are encouraged to call the College Advancement Office at 401-456-8105 or 401-456-9866.
